A traveller looks good on the way...

Freedom to travel from home to school, to work, shopping, on vacation, visiting friends, inside the country or abroad. What a wonderful thing you have learned to value more in the context of the restrictions imposed by the COVID19 pandemic.

”No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

But what should you take into account when you have to travel, if you want to have a carbon footprint as small as possible?

  • Choose to walk or use public transport at least one day a week.

  • Specialists recommend at least 30 minutes of daily exercise, and walking is an ideal way to do this.

  • Use a bicycle or electric scooter in spring, summer and autumn.

  • Consider public transportation: you can read or listen to a podcast until you reach your destination.

  • If you do not have to carry luggage, use the stairs and avoid the elevator.

  • Train travel is a way to enjoy the scenery.

  • Travel in smaller groups with an environmentally friendly guide! Small groups tend to have a lower impact on the environment.

  • When hiking, stay on marked trails to avoid stepping on protected plants and to keep a safe distance from wildlife in the area.

  • Stay at the hotel as if you were at home (turn off the light and air conditioning when you leave the room, do not change the towel and bedding daily, do not take longer showers, etc.).

  • Every kilogram counts when you fly. The more an airplane weighs, the more carbon emissions it produces. So when you pack, just take what you need!

  • By staying longer in one place, the trip brings you more satisfaction because you have time to better discover the places, to understand how the locals live and to integrate in their world. In addition, the planet will be grateful that you save more resources.

  • Choose direct, non-stop flight options.
